Replica of Joseph Smith’s Gold Plates

This Gold Plate is an exact replica of the original plates that were unearthed by Joseph Smith. It is believed that Joseph Smith wrote these characters directly from the plates in his own handwriting to show their authenticity to scholars. These reformed Egyptian characters recreated are etched into the replica plates.  The reformed Egyptian characters became known as the “Anthon Characters.”

On the backside of the plate is an etched explanation of the Prophet Mormon telling of the Lords request to keep a record of things he witnessed by his own eyes.
